about our business
The Gilded Lily is focused almost 100% on wedding floristry – which is quite different from High Street floristry where the florist has to be expert in wiring & taping and bouquet, buttonhole construction – plus of course all general floristry techniques – all of which requires unique skill and experience.
Our business IS personal – but please, don’t expect that this comes at a premium price! When you choose The Gilded Lily as your North West wedding florist, you’ll enjoy a one-to-one consultation with Mags at the Chorley based workshop which is located on our family farm – lots of parking and private.

STORY BEGAN
2002
Following a great IT career in IT Service / Project Management – the proprietor Mags (me) I decided to retrain in an industry I was passionate about – flowers & floristry.
Having attended specialist training with several floristry schools including the legendary Judith Blacklock Flower School of Knightsbridge, Mags went about creating bespoke wedding flowers, gift bouquets and floral displays for clients across Chorley and the North West of England, as well as further afield.

2004
After having completed formal training Mags set up her business “The Gilded Lily” and the rest is history – from a standing start of just a few weddings per year – we now stand at approximately 80 / 100 per year. Plus a huge amount of funerals and all the usual floral events throughout the year.

workshop opening
2006
After a couple of years trading from home I opened my dedicated workshop at what was my family farm many years ago – I now have a purpose build private workshop on the outskirts of Chorley – equipped & spacious to create floral work from the few ££ hundreds to several £££ thousands !
The workshop has private parking where we can plan flowers for your special day over tea / coffee (even a glass of sparkle !).

present day
At the time of writing The Gilded Lily not only provides special floral work for weddings but has also branched out into all the usual floral events throughout the year. From Valentines Day, Mothers Day, (even Fathers Day!), corporate and funeral work. I especially like funeral work as it helps to give those loved ones a chance to remember their lost one with beautiful images and fragrance.
In recent years we put on floral workshops – especially wreath making at Christmas time (A very popular series of workshops throughout December).
